How to measure for Curtains:
S Wave/ Wave Pleat
Before you can choose the perfect curtains for your space, it’s vital to get the correct window measurements. Follow the steps below to determine the exact size of your curtains, so you can spend more time choosing the fun stuff!
A curtain is made to fit a track, which is what we’re measuring for. It’s pretty straightforward – you just need a width measurement and a height/drop measurement.
What You’ll Need:
A curtain is made to fit a track, and depending on the size of the window it should be wider than the window recess to ensure that the curtain stack does not cover the window when they’re fully open.
If you are ordering a custom track, the curtains will be underslung and the track will be visible. If you order an expandable track the curtain will sit above the track.
With this in mind, measure the exact width of your track in millimetres.
Ideally, the track should be 150mm to 300mm longer than each side of the window.
Next, measure where you want the top of the fabric to start, down to wherever you would like the bottom of the curtain to finish.
There are 2 factors to consider before measuring:
1. Mounting Position – where do you want your curtains to hang from?
2. Configuration – how do you want your curtains to open?
Using this information, go ahead and measure the exact width and height of your curtain treatment in millimetres.
Face Fix
For a Face Fix, the curtain brackets are mounted onto the wall. This makes for a neat and tailored look, and is a great clutter-free option.
Measuring Width:
Measure the exact width you’d like the curtain to cover. There are no right or wrong answers here, it’s up to you. Having said that, for a centre opening we recommend that the curtain track extends at least 12.5% either side of the window or door opening, so 25% all up. For a curtain that stacks on one side, we recommend that you add 6.25% to the non-stacking side and 12.5% to the stacking side, left or right. This will allow you to get the best possible light reduction.
Measure the exact height/drop you’d like the curtain to cover. Remember to take three measurements – left, middle, and right – and provide us with the smallest measurement of the three.
Top Fix
A Top Fixed Curtain has the brackets mounted onto the ceiling. This adds height and a feeling of luxury.
Measuring Width:
Measure the width you want your curtain track to be. If you want the track to extend wall-to-wall, make sure to select that option while purchasing your curtains. Our factory will deduct about 10-15mm from your measurement to ensure that the track will fit.
Measuring Height/Drop:
Measure the drop in 3 places – left, middle, and right – and use the smallest measurement.
We know your home is as unique as you are and we want to ensure your blinds and curtains fit like a glove.
